INSTALL - FULL EXHAUST

Installing a Kakimoto Cat-Back, BFR Front Pipe and Tomei Dump Install
On A Nissan 200sx S14a

What you will need

14mm open ended ring spanner
12mm open ended ring spanner
jackcar stands (optional but highly recommend for safety)
Turbo to exhaust gasket
Step 1

First thing to do is double check you have all of the bolts and nuts required for the job, next is to remove the old exhaust which can take some time. If you have access to an oxy cutting tool then this is the time to fire it up and cut the bolts off the old exhaust. You really don't need to do this as most of the bolts will come undone with a little bit of elbow grease. I did not have access to one so i had to do it the hard way. Start with the back section and unbolt the re end of the catalytic converter. then the front pipe and finally the standard dump pipe.

Step 2 - Dump Pipe

Next is to do it in the reverse order starting with the dump pipe, Place the new gasket on the back of the turbo and then place the dump over the two remaining studs and then use the three bolts that come with the tomei dump pipe in the top three holes on the back of the turbo. Now you have to do these up very tight and it is best once everything is completed and the run in procedure has been completed that you check these again as it is quiet common for them to come loose and blow out your gasket. Once this is done put the three studs supplied with the tomei dump pipe into the bottom holes and tighten.

Step 3 - Front Pipe

Start with the front section and slide over the three holes and place the spring washers and nuts on and tighten, next is to loosely attached the bracket from the gearbox hand tightening the bolts up as you want a bit of play for the rest of the exhaust to get it fitted then come back and tighten these ones up. Attached the standard cat or aftermarket cat if you have one (a popular brand is CATCO nd can be had from most exhaust shops for around $250) and tighten the two 14mm bolts.

Step 4 - Cat Back

Don't bolt on the front section first but lever on the rubber straps that hold the exhaust in place, there are three fro this exhaust and four for most other brands. Use some WD40 or similar products to make the ends slide in easier as they can be quit\et hard to get in. Next bolt on the cat back to the cat and tighten. Go back and tighten the exhaust mount to the gearbox and the cat and double check all bolts are tight.

Step 5 - Run In

Run the car for about 15min at idle checking for any leaks (you will hear them) if it all seems OK then take her for a spin around the block with the windows around and double check for leaks again.
